During the past year, many academic mothers have struggled with balancing work and childcare, which has had a significant effect on their productivity. This site is designed to offer a starting point for supporting and facilitating connections between academic mothers in diverse areas of professional growth.
Profess*Her welcomes those individuals who work in academic jobs, are non-binary or identify as a woman, and have care responsibilities for children. Our goal is to connect academic mothers who are looking to support one another professionally in a number of meaningful ways including, but not limited to, feedback on different aspects of professional development such as grant writing, project development, journal articles and manuscripts, teaching, creative projects, and other professional goals. We also welcome allies of academic mothers who wish to provide support to academic mothers in their professional development. We aim to be responsive to the feedback of academic mothers to identify other avenues for support that may be missing from the workplace and other formal institutions.
