Psychological safety and an ethics of care are foundational values that run through Profess*Her.
An ethics of care are rooted in care and compassion and offer a basis for relating to others through empathy. A community based on an ethics of care centers sensitivity to one's experiences and provides a deliberate space for recognizing and including voices that tend to be rendered invisible by dominant structures.
We aim to ensure that all academic mothers who rely on this website and its resources feel a genuine sense of inclusion and belonging. We aim to foster an environment in which academic mothers can speak candidly about ideas, questions, and questions about our mission and approach. We also aim to create an environment where mothers can speak candidly about any problems or concerns that arise in the pairing process. We ask that mothers be professional and respectful in their any of their engagements with the Profess*Her community, including with the writing community or the person they are paired with, recognizing and honoring the diverse experiences and insights of other academic mothers. Mothers who violate these terms and are not responsive to requests from our team about harmful or disrespectful behavior will be removed from our community.
